Our client is a premier engineering consulting firm specializing in Geotechnical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering, as well as testing and monitoring services. Our client is based in Western Canada with a strong presence in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.

The Opportunity:
​
Working closely with a team of talented engineers and technologists, you provide cost-effective, quality, and timely geotechnical engineering recommendations for a wide range of site developments in the Oil and Gas, Industrial, Commercial and Residential sectors throughout Western Canada.

Responsibilities:
​

Manage medium to large geotechnical projects and coordinate smaller projects and tasks for junior staff

Technically review and oversee activities including field exploration, laboratory analysis, reporting, field monitoring and testing.

Provide detailed geotechnical analysis and design tasks.

Prepare and review proposals, field reports and technical documents.

Manage costs, vendor coordination and work with field personnel.

Conduct interaction with management, co-workers, contractors, and subcontractors.

Be a responsible role model and mentor for junior engineers and technical staff.

Practice industry principles, procedures, and practices of geotechnical consulting.

Have a working knowledge of the instruments and apparatus used in geotechnical monitoring and investigation projects and perform routine maintenance on test equipment.

Complete assignments in a timely manner meeting business deadlines.

Be an independent analytical thinker, anticipate, troubleshoot, and solve problems as they arise.

Adhere to all company health and safety policies and Provincial legislation.

Be a company ambassador in dealings with clients, vendors, and third-party contractors.
Qualifications:
-
Graduate from a Canadian recognized university program in civil or geological engineering. Master's degree or higher preferred, but candidates with relevant degrees are encouraged to apply.

Current APEGA membership as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng. designation), or registration in good standing in another Canadian jurisdiction.

At minimum 10 years of geotechnical report writing and consulting.

A strong background in geohazard assessment, slope assessment, earth structures and foundation engineering.

Knowledgeable in the use of Slope/W software.

Knowledge of current professional practices and technological advancements in geotechnical engineering.

Preference given to applicants who demonstrate an understanding of soils mechanics related to slope assessments and pipelines, and familiarity with materials engineering and geo-environmental assessment.

A solid grasp of the English written and spoken language and can demonstrate excellent comprehension.

Flexibility to travel and work away from home to meet the needs of our clients.

Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Engineering Standards and Codes applicable for working in Alberta and other parts of Canada.

Effective people skills with a proven ability to manage clients and technical staff.

Attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Great attitude and work ethic.

Team orientated with a commitment to safety excellence.

Valid Alberta Driver’s license, insurable and able to provide a 3-year driving abstract.
Salary:

$125,000.00-$160,000.00 per year, based on experience
