Senior Civil/Structural Engineer
Location: St. Catharines, ON., Burlington, ON., or Calgary, AB.

Our client is actively seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join their team. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees the planning, design, construction, and estimation of cost for company projects.

Assist in the preparation and review of contract drawings and documents.
-
Participate in design and construction schedules and monitor progress of various projects and their conformance to design and construction schedules.

Provide site inspection in order to monitor progress and ensure compliance with all safety and government regulations.

Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geological data to plan projects.

Provide feedback and advice regarding the civil and structural aspects of company projects to management and other project leaders. Supervise the preparation and review of contract drawings and documents.

Participate in the preparation of project contract documents.

Deliver projects on budgets and within identified schedules.

Analyzing the section budget for reasonability, needs, and justification.

Participate in technical reviews and provide recommendations regarding designs and reports prepared by engineers.

Ensure that clients are satisfied through professional conduct, diligent response and maintaining successful relationships

Provides expertise in their area of specialization

Will be required to support engineering proposals and business development.

Interface and manage work done by subcontracting consultant companies.
-
Resource planning for projects.

QUALIFICATIONS
-
Civil/Structural Engineer who is customer-focused with 10+ years of relevant experience.
-
Bachelor’s degree in engineering – Civil/Structural major.
-
Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario or in the Province of Alberta with good standing.

EXPERIENCE
-
Experience in consulting services involving industrial construction projects in Canada.
-
Experience with power generation and electrical distribution infrastructure design
-
Experience with natural gas and hydrogen processing infrastructure projects would be an asset.
-
Experience with Canadian (especially Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta) and US building codes.
-
Experience with municipal and regional permitting activities, including familiarity with technical and commercial application process expectations.

Familiarity with farm building code of Canada (FBCC)
-
Familiar with estimating.

Familiar with schedule preparation
-
Experience with field support and construction.
-
Experience with interfacing with architectural design
-
Familiarity with structural Engineering, civil Engineering and architectural service subcontracts
-
Flexibility and capacity to adapt in a small, but dynamic consulting firm.

Understanding of engineering project lifecycle.
-
Requires strong interpersonal skills to manage the team, the client, and external parties (utilities, sub-consultants, equipment vendors, etc.).

Technical writing skills.

Organizational and time management skills.

Fluency in standard office software.

Earthworks (site grading, bulk earthworks)

Site drainage (plant site drainage, storm water ponds, culverts, open channel, and flood control)

Backfilling and compaction for buried piping.

Roads (plant access and haul roads)

Site investigation (planning and scoping of site)

Geotechnical Study Specifications, Review, and Interfacing

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Willing to lead a team of less experienced engineers and offer mentorship

Willing to travel occasionally

Must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Landed Immigrant who is in the process of becoming a Permanent Resident
