Our client is a boutique consulting firm specializing in Geotechnical Engineering.

 

Position Scope:

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer is tasked with supervising ongoing projects led by Junior Engineers, while also managing their own projects and actively pursuing new bids. They provide guidance and technical expertise to ensure projects are executed efficiently and in accordance with specified requirements. Additionally, they play a key role in project and budget management. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter that is able to work well in a team

environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project teams across diverse business sectors to enhance our clients' reputation.

  • Provide training and mentorship to junior staff on investigation techniques, data analysis, design preparation, and report writing.

  • Develop proposals, budgets, and schedules for geotechnical and geohazard projects.

  • Coordinate and oversee all phases of geotechnical projects, from investigation and analysis to concept and design, as well as data compilation, report writing, and editing.

  • Conduct senior-level and independent reviews of geotechnical projects.

  • Provide construction field reviews and monitoring for geotechnical projects.

 

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Soil mechanics and geotechnical design.

  • Slope stability analysis and modelling.

  • Slope stabilization and landslide risk mitigation.

  • Groundwater flow and analysis.

  • Design of deep and shallow foundations, such as spread footings, driven piles, drilled shafts, and helical piles.

  • Design earth retention systems, such as shoring, soil anchors, and retaining walls.

  • A high level of proficiency with current geotechnical software applications (Ex. SLOPE/W, SETTLE3D, LPILE, GRLWEAP and the RocScience Suite of software.)

  • Excellent technical, written and verbal communication skills

 

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Geological/Geotechnical Engineering

  • 8+ years of relevant experience.

  • EGBC Registered P. Eng (or eligible to be registered)

 

Salary and Benefits:

  • $130,000.00-$180,000.00 per year, based on experience
